Milled Pillar Coins Milled pillar coins "pillar dollars" were minted at the Lima mint from 1752 until 1772, when they were replaced by the milled bust variety. Coins were minted in denominations of 8, 4, 2, 1, and 1/2 reales, although no considerable quantities of any were produced until 1753. Lima mint milled pillar coins are easily identified by their mintmark, a monogrammed LIMA that looks like LM, often with a dot above the L representing I in the monogram. Certificates of Authenticity accompany all Lima Milled Pillar Coins.
