Atocha Replica Cannon

This Spanish bronze cannon is a replica to the bronze cannons recovered from the Spanish treasure galleon Atocha.  The Spanish galleon Nuestra Senora de Atocha struck a reef and sank on September 6, 1622, during a raging hurricane near the Florida Keys.  Mel Fisher and his company Treasure Salvors, Inc., discovered the main wreck site on July 20, 1985 and ultimately recovered a vast amount of treasure and artifacts, including many bronze cannons similar in design to this beautifully detailed replica.  The Atocha has the distinction of being the richest Spanish treasure galleon recovered to date.

This very ornate Spanish bronze cannon was cast using the lost wax casting method which is known to be a highly labor intensive method, but yields the most beautifully detailed results.  The cannon is patterned off of the Spanish navel guns recovered from the Atocha and even includes the dual dolphin lifting rings found on Atocha cannons.  For a replica, this is a large cannon, but is the perfect size for an office or home floor display and is sure to initiate many interesting conversations.  Please call for further details.
